Ketosis is a powerful way to lose weight and promote health, with many people experiencing amazing results. But, eating this way takes time and planning, especially when you’re still getting used to the concepts.
After all, many of the modern go-to foods and snacks are high in carbs, making them useless for anyone following ketosis. Nevertheless, there are some amazing alternatives out there, including the 42 different keto snacks on this list.
Sure, there are many simple snacks out there as well, such as seeds, string cheese, jerky and nut butters. But, there’s something even better about snacks you make yourself. All of these recipes are examples of exactly that and they come from food various food bloggers across the internet.
Even if you don’t like all of them, some of these options are bound to be exactly what you’re looking for. The snacks are also a great way to add some diversity into your diet and make it easier to stick to overall.
This first selection of snacks involve sweet, or sweet-ish options. Realistically, many keto snacks aren’t all that sweet, although recipe creators often provide information about changing up the sweetness. But, these snacks are all good choices for anyone with a sweet tooth, along with people who miss traditional treats like brownies, fudge and ice cream.
Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Image from Keto Connect
Avocado is a powerful source of healthy fats and this Chocolate Avocado Pudding acts as a great snack or dessert for anyone on the keto diet. The recipe is particularly powerful just because it is simple and uses few ingredients. At the same time, the flavors and the textures combine together perfectly.
Keto Chocolate Fudge
Image from Keto Delivered
As sweet snacks go, fudge is up there on my list of favorites – and this Keto Chocolate Fudge is a perfect choice if you want to make keto fudge. The site behind this recipe is Keto Delivered, which specializes in a range of keto products, including some of the ingredients used to make this particular recipe.
Chocolate Gelatin Pudding
Image from Grass Fed Girl
The previous two examples are both fairly common snacks for anyone watching their carbs and there are many similar recipes on other sites. On the other hand, this Chocolate Gelatin Pudding is a little bit different. As the author mentions, the snack is also a good way to get extra collagen into your diet, a process that can improve health.
The author is also somewhat of an expert in paleo cooking, having been involved in four different recipe books. While those are focused on paleo, not keto, some of the recipes provided would be effective for keto meals and snacks.
Homemade Heavy Cream Yogurt
Image from Thriving on Low Carb
Some store-bought yogurts can work well on a ketosis diet but why not make your own? This Homemade Heavy Cream Yogurt recipe provides the information you need to do just that. Not only does the recipe act as a good snack but it is a powerful source of probiotics, which you need for health. Besides that, making your own yogurt is extremely cost-efficient and you may never want to go back to store bought yogurt.
The recipe is designed for an Instant Pot, so it’s best for people who already have one. But, if you don’t, buying an Instant Pot is worth the investment, especially as you can make so many amazing recipes in one.
Image from Keto Adapted
I mentioned fudge earlier but here is a second Keto Fudge recipe, this time from one of my favorite recipe sites. Honestly, this recipe is worth checking out for the additional information on keto and the comments section overall. Both areas offer considerable insight into how individuals find ketosis, how they feel and the challenges that they face along the way.
The author here is another expert on the field and she has multiple keto cookbooks currently available. The most recent of these is Keto Restaurant Favorites, which offers recipes for making keto versions of restaurant food, in the comfort of your own home.
Pumpkin Pie Bites
Image from Tasteaholics
I’ve always loved Tasteaholics, both for their recipes and for the cookbooks that the site offers. This particular recipe is for Pumpkin Pie Bites and these fat bombs work well for getting the right macros. But, more than that, they make for an appealing snack, one that is just a little bit different.
Best Fudgy Keto Brownies
Image from My Sweet Keto
You don’t have to miss out on brownies just because you’re on a keto diet. Instead, this Best Fudgy Keto Brownies recipe is an easy way to get your brownie fix, without dropping you out of keto. As the author mentions, you could also make this recipe in muffin pans if you would rather, which gives you chocolate brownie cupcakes.
Homemade Strawberry Whips
Image from Health Starts in the Kitchen
I love these Homemade Strawberry Whips simply because they are unusual. They’re also a perfect snack if you want something that is a little bit lighter and doesn’t rely on chocolate for the flavor. The recipe also makes six servings, so it would work well if you’re preparing treats for guests.
Hazelnut Low Carb Cheesecake Bites
Image from Ketogenic Woman
These Hazelnut Low Carb Cheesecake Bites are another example of keto fat bombs and they’re also easy to prepare. You could also sub in another type of nut, such as macadamia nuts, if you wanted to - as long as you pay attention to the carb count. Either way, the bites would taste delicious and make a simple and appealing snack.
Coconut Chocolate Ice Cream
Image from Eat Clean Piss Glitter
Ice cream is another treat that is easy to miss if you’re on keto – especially if you don’t want to spend the money to buy Halo Top or something similar from the store. This Coconut Chocolate Ice Cream recipe is the perfect way to get your ice cream fix, especially on a hot day. The recipe also doesn’t rely on an ice cream maker, which is a bonus.
Cookie Dough Bites
Image from Merrymaker Sisters
If you’re a fan of cookie dough, then you’re bound to love these Keto Cookie Dough Bites. In this case, the authors of the blog don’t actually follow ketosis themselves but they do create recipes for keto treats from time to time. And honestly, you don’t have to be on a keto diet to enjoy snacks like these. Instead, they would work well simply as a treat for most situations and they are a good source of healthy fats as well.
Healthy Chocolate Popsicles
Image from Stephanie Dodier
These Healthy Chocolate Popsicles are a great idea if you want a fun summer snack. The recipe would also be popular among kids and the popsicles themselves are much healthier than anything you would buy from the store. Plus, they look fantastic as well.
Image from Elana’s Pantry
Here’s another recipe for chocolate lovers – Keto Brownies. These beauties have just 8 ingredients, many of which you will already have in your cupboard. They also end up looking like regular brownies as well, so you could even serve them to people who aren’t following a low-carb diet.
German Chocolate Cake Keto Fudge
Image from The Primitive Palate
A more unusual chocolate snack is this German Chocolate Cake Fudge. I can imagine this in cases where you want something with an interesting texture and/or flavor profile. This is also a fairly sweet snack, so it’s perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. One commenter also mentioned that you could leave out the nuts and coconut to create basic low-carb fudge – which would work well too.
Chocolate Banana Brownies
Image from Low Carb Maven
It’s hard to say what the best thing is about these Chocolate Banana Brownies but I do love the flavor profile. The author mentions that she was originally trying for chocolate banana bread but ended up with these brownies instead. Personally, I think they are just perfect as-is and a nice alternative to the more traditional brownie flavors that are out there.
Chocolate Brownie Mug Cake
Image from Low Carb Spark
While we’re on the topic of brownies, this Chocolate Brownie Mug Cake is another recipe that you can try out. Mug cakes always make a great snack because you’re preparing a much smaller serving size. That’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to keep sweet snacks in the house. The recipe is also easy to prepare, taking around five minutes from start to finish.
Sweet snacks are often wonderful but they’re not always the right choice. Instead, there are many cases where a savory option can work better, especially if you’re feeling a little hungry. Besides, many of us prefer savory snacks to sweet ones anyway.
With that in mind, the remainder of the snacks are all savory. They encompass a range of different flavors and styles, with some being fast and easy snacks, while others may take more work to prepare.
Low Carb Fathead Samosa
Image from Foodie’s Journey on Keto
These Low Carb Fathead Samosas are more complex than many of the other keto snacks but they’re still worth trying out. If nothing else, the samosas offer a great balance of flavors and they look impressive on the plate too. They’re also appealing if you want something heartier, particularly for anyone who is a little hungry.
Low Carb Pizza Bites
Image from Sugar Free Londoner
These Low Carb Pizza Bites are one of the best choices for people that miss pizza. They basically offer much of the same flavor profile you would find with pizza, with few carbs to worry about. Plus, the snacks are much easier than trying to make mini pizzas using a low-carb pizza crust.
You could also play around with the recipe, such as by adding different toppings to the pizza bites. And, like many of the other snacks on this list, the snack would be appealing to a wide audience, not just to keto dieters.
Keto Cheese Shell Taco Cups
Image from Hey Keto Mama
These Keto Cheese Shell Taco Cups are another clever way to use cheese when you’re making a snack. In fact, the basic concept of this recipe is very similar to the previous example – but this time you’re making baby tacos instead of pizza.
Once again, you could easily change up the exact ingredients that you use. Whatever choices you make, these shells would be great as finger food and are simple to make once you get used to the process.
Dippable Crispy Cheddar Cheese Chips
Image from Wicked Stuffed
There are various recipes for keto chips out there but most of them don’t actually end up being crisp. These Dippable Crispy Cheddar Cheese Chips are an exception to that rule, making them perfect for parties and for movie marathons. The fun thing is that these also end up with a great flavor, so it’s almost like you’re getting regular chips on a keto diet.
Baked Eggs in Ham Cups
Image from Oh Snap Let’s Eat
Eggs are a powerful source of nutrition and these Baked Eggs in Ham Cups are a nice and simple way to make eggs for breakfast or for a snack. As you can see from the image, there are two different styles – one where you scramble the egg and the other where you don’t. Either idea works perfectly, so you can choose whichever style you prefer.
Easy Keto Mozzarella Sticks
Image from TryKetoWith.Me
I’ve always loved cheese sticks, so these Easy Keto Mozzarella Sticks sound perfect to me. The name isn’t misleading either, as these mozzarella sticks are easy to prepare. The ingredients list is also fairly conventional, so you’re likely to have most of the ingredients at home already.
Cheesy Cauliflower Bites
Image from Killer Keto
Cauliflower really is a go-to ingredient on the keto diet, with so many different recipes featuring the vegetable. These Cheesy Cauliflower Bites are one example and they make an easy and convenient snack. The recipe also makes a large number of the bites, which is perfect if you’re having a party. Alternatively, you could easily save the leftovers and reheat them later.
Spaghetti Squash Pizza Nests
Image from Beauty and the Foodie
Like the cauliflower bites, these Spaghetti Squash Pizza Nests make an appealing snack that also lets you get some extra vegetables in your diet. The author also includes information about how to effectively cook spaghetti squash, as doing so can be somewhat difficult the first couple of times.
Salt and Vinegar Zucchini Chips
Image from Sugar-Free Mom
I love the concept of these Salt and Vinegar Zucchini Chips, especially as they are a little bit unusual. It’s also a nice change from the idea of kale chips and many people will prefer the taste (and appearance) of zucchini. As you can probably guess, there are also very few ingredients in this recipe, which helps to make it easy to prepare.
Keto Cheese Meatballs
Image from Fat for Weight Loss
These Keto Cheese Meatballs could be the snack of choice for many keto followers, especially if you’re a fan of hearty food. Not only that, but these meatballs would be a powerful source of nutrients and would help to keep you going between meals. As the author notes, grass-fed ground beef is a healthier choice overall and would help you to get the most benefits from this snack.
Cheesy Bacon Zucchini Skins
Image from Mostly Homemade Mom
On the other hand, if you’re looking for something more veggie-centric, these Cheesy Bacon Zucchini Skins could be a good way to go. Using zucchinis like this is an interesting alternative to bread and you end up with a cheesy snack that’s easy to eat as well. What’s more, you’re getting all the nutrients from the vegetable with barely any carbs.
Spinach Artichoke Dip
Image from Wholesome Yum
This Spinach Artichoke Dip makes a perfect dip for any occasion, regardless of whether you want a snack or an appetizer. The recipe also fits into a wide range of diets, as it is sugar free and vegetarian, while also being a keto dish. What’s more, the ingredients used are all common and simple, so you don’t have to buy anything unusual to make the recipe.
Vegan Keto Bagel Thins
Image from Meat Free Keto
For many people on a keto diet, missing bread is one of the biggest challenges. While there are keto bread recipes, they are never quite the same. Nevertheless, some recipes do get close. These Vegan Keto Bagel Thins are designed to mimic bagels, particularly crunchy toasted bagels. The author does a great job at achieving this too and the thin bagels make a perfect breakfast or snack.
Bacon and Cheese Stuffed Muffins
Image from Butter Is Not a Carb
If you’re a fan of cheesy snacks, then you shouldn’t go past these Bacon and Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms. The fun thing is that the recipe works with most types of mushroom. So, you could stuff larger ones if you wanted a more substantial dish or use small mushrooms (as pictured) for easy snacks or appetizers.
Image from The Lazy Keto
These Spinach Balls are another fun snack choice and they work especially well if you combine them with a keto dipping sauce. I love the overall style, especially as it means you’re getting all of the nutrients from spinach. The site is also a great one for a more honest and realistic approach to keto. After all, many people do struggle with the eating style and I love The Lazy Keto’s down-to-earth way of talking.
Image from Low Carb Yum
As this recipe points out, you don’t have to rely on potatoes to make fries. Instead, you can use other vegetables, which is what was done with these Zucchini Fries. Even if you’re not a fan of zucchini, it’s worth trying these fries out, as they really do come together well. Plus, the recipe only uses a handful of ingredients, so it’s easy to shop for and to prepare.
For that matter, these fries could quickly become your go-to keto snack.
Mozzarella Stuffed Bacon Onion Rings
Image from Fat to Fit Chick
These Mozzarella Stuffed Bacon Onion Rings may look complicated but they’re not, Instead, the recipe just uses three ingredients, all of which should be obvious from the title alone. But, you should still check out the recipe, as you’ll want to follow the individual steps to ensure your snacks are perfect.
Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs
Image from Ketogasm
Deviled eggs are a common enough snack and you’ve probably found other keto versions of the recipe already. But, these Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs are a little different and would end up tasting much better than many other variations. If nothing else, the recipe is perfect if you want to think outside of the box – especially as it is a fairly easy recipe to prepare.
Coconut Curry Chicken Tenders
Image from ruled.me
These Coconut Curry Chicken Tenders come from ruled.me, which is one of my favorite sites for all things keto. Seriously, they have amazing resources on there, along with a wide range of different recipes. But, these chicken tenders were the ones that caught my eye. After all, tenders do work well as a snack because of the protein from the chicken.
The recipe does take a bit of work to prepare but, trust me, it’s worth it. You could also make these as a meal but I prefer them as a simple snack and they would probably be just as good warm or cold.
Loaded Hasselback Zucchini
Image from Peas & Crayons
As the name suggests, this Loaded Hasselback Zucchini is a variation on a popular potato dish. But, because you’re using zucchini instead, this recipe would be considerably less heavy, making it perfect as a snack. The combination of flavors here works extremely well and you end up with a dish that feels decadent, even though it isn’t.
Almond Flour Mozzarella Sticks
Image from Healthful Pursuit
If you love your cheese, then these Almond Flour Mozzarella Sticks are too good to pass up. Preparing them is easy and the real trick is in the crumbs, as you want something that tastes and feels like breadcrumbs, without having all the associated carbs. This recipe offers precisely that and the mozzarella sticks also happen to look just as good as any non-keto version.
Skinny Bell Pepper Nacho Boats
Image from SkinnyMs
I love these Skinny Bell Pepper Nacho Boats as something that is just a little different. I haven’t seen bell peppers used this way before but the idea makes perfect sense, especially as the peppers do become sweeter when they have been baked. You could also cut down the recipe and make just enough for a quick snack, if you choose to.
Avocado Deviled Eggs
Image from The Nourished Caveman
I mentioned a deviled eggs recipe earlier but these Avocado Deviled Eggs offer a different flavor profile again. I imagine this version would be perfect for anyone who loves avocado. But, there’s more to the recipe than just avocado and egg, so it’s worth heading over to the blog and checking it out.
Broccoli Cheese Bites
Image from Queen Keto
These Broccoli Cheese Bites are a simple snack that you can make for any situation. What’s more, the recipe is flexible, so you can change the ratios of cheese and broccoli to alter the flavor profile until you get something that’s perfect for you. Because these are so low in carbs, you could even have multiple bites as a snack without a problem.
Low Carb FatHead Crackers
Image from Ditch the Carbs
These Low Carb FatHead Crackers may seem simple but having one good cracker recipe at hand is critical for anyone following a ketosis (or a low-carb) diet. After all, crackers make for good snacks on their own and they also combine well with so many different things. As the name suggests, the snack is a variation on the FatHead pizza recipe, which has become extremely popular in its own right. Personally, I love the way these crackers turn out and they’re nice and easy to make as well.
Bacon Chicken Tenders
Image from Modern Low Carb
This final recipe actually has two components. The first is the Bacon Chicken Tenders, while the second is the mustard dip – both of which can be seen in the image. I love the idea of these tenders as a snack, especially as they can be reheated without a problem. Additionally, you could serve them as pictured and make a meal out of the tenders. Either way, this is a great recipe and well-worth trying out.
In many ways, this list barely scratches the surface. At this point, there are probably hundreds of different keto snack lists out there, along with countless individual recipes.
But, these recipes are a great place to get started. Plus, most of the sites offer a wide range of other keto meals and snacks – so you’ll never run out of ideas.
