I hadn’t heard about the idea of eating berries first, but it does make a certain degree of sense. In general, the impacts that foods have on each other is such a complex topic and it can be a bit overwhelming. Looking at this area is important for health benefits, but at the same time, there is only so many different things we can take into account with our diets. In many ways it is a matter of figuring out what works the best for us as individuals.

Like you said, your breakfast approach works perfectly for you. But, I’m guessing that some other people might struggle with it. In fact, I know one friend who gets queasy from oatmeal every time, even though she really loves the taste.

I’m always fascinated by which nutrient is subdued by which other nutrient. Or what foods are incompatible to each other, for nutritional reasons.
So complicated, but so glad you’re here to inform us!
I’m lucky I don’t have milk on my breakfast cereal … which happens to be porridge (oatmeal) with blueberries. I put in crushed walnuts, and prop up a couple of baby carrots in the bowl too.
I enjoy this almost every day!
I did read something about my cereal/berries mixture though…
It seems that we should eat the berries first, by themselves.
This way, they won’t ferment in your tummy when they mix with the cereal down there(!)
Now I don’t have the world’s strongest stomach, and have the roller-coaster ride ‘scars’ to prove it!
But I always eat my breakfast ‘mix’, and never get an upset tum-tum from it:)
Have you heard about this, Vince?

I want to say I love the look of your blog, as well as all the valuable information contained in it!

All the best, my friend,
Terry
