Tart is a general classification but most of the ones in stores will be Montmorency cherries. That labeling will probably be easier to find if you’re looking for the actual cherries.

Tart cherries do tend to be more obscure, partly because you don’t tend to eat them outright. But, they are around and the juice is certainly worth including in your diet regularly.

Thank you for this excellent in-depth article on tart cherries. I grew up in Michigan and never knew this is where they are mostly grown. I have seen the juice around but I guess I didn’t realize there were so many differences between them. You certainly convinced me tart cherries should be in my diet. Thank you!

I have been overcoming high cholesterol and high blood sugar for about ten years now. It is at times difficult to know what is and what is not good for you.

I never heard of a class of Cherries called Tart. Great info to know. Especially since they have less sugar than the Sweet ones. Great post! Great information . Thanks
